Oberlin Mountain, GlacierNP

This is a small mountain that is the recommended first peak to climb in Glacier to familiarize yourself with the scree and rock formations. kids even climb it. I used the Passmore books for the route.

Ok, you start at the Logan Pass Visitor Center (of course, get there before the parking lot is full of the horde of tourists) and instead of using the stairs to go up to the trail for Hidden Lake, use the handicapped ramp, because at the first corner you are going to jump it and start hiking on a social trail (very well visible). You are not doing anything wrong, this is a real trail that the rangers do not block. There are other areas in Logan Pass that are closed for off trail hiking, this is not one of them.

The first thing that you will see is Oberlin Falls. The area that day was a refuge for the goats and mountain sheep from the oncoming horde of tourists.

I started seeing mountain goats there and I was lucky to capture this video:
Once you are pat the falls you are going to start going up to the saddle between Oberlin and Clements mountains. The mountain to the left is Reynolds.

It is at this saddle that I caught this mama and her kid, adorable ............

And here comes the embarrassing part: I am horrible at staying on the route. I managed to find that first good landmark for the start of the climb and from then on I kept missing the few rock cairns in the mountain (mins you, KIDS go up to the top). It got so embarrassing that there was a group coming down and we never ran into each other, that tells me that my route was the wrong one.
I managed to find the top, after I mistook another area as the route to a false top. Oh well ....

And a nice video from the top:
On the way back, I ran into a lot of goats .....
I took these pics my my iPhone ............ love the framing !
I spent the rest of the day getting my camping permit for Helen Lake and then hiking up to Otakomi Lake (I was thinking of Cracker Lake but decided not to drive to Many Glacier).

One thing that I am obsessed with is the view of Goose Island. I always try to capture a nice view, but it does not compete with the professional pics that I see. Nevertheless, here are a few shots.
And a panorama .........

I managed to catch a nice pic of a bear from the car (on the last day I ran into a bear on the trail ......... scary a shit. It will be described in my blog).
